During my brief time as the Vice-President of our chapter followed by presidency, my first idea and mission was the design and sales of an official Journalism Department t-shirt sponsored by SPJ. School and department t-shirts are common at Ole Miss and in this case I was especially proud because this would be the department's first shirt.
After I created three different prototypes, my adviser and I settled on this version displayed in the corresponding posters. the concept I went for in my design was a prestigious deep blue and white color scheme. Because I knew that the department would soon become the Meek School of Journalism, I used a simple journalism text the department had already been using, allowng the shirt to fit both eras while letting the design remain consistent.
To sell the shirt, I created a set of posters focused on student diversity in the journalism school. Among those students selected, I also asked 2009 University of Mississippi Football running back and current NFL Kansas Chiefs wide receiver Dexter McCluster to lend his image as part of the product placement efforts of the marketing campaign.

The now journalism school t-shirt sale is a continued success in raising money for the Ole Miss chapter of SPJ.
